From multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical campuses and semiconductor fabs to new battery plants and consumer goods factories, U.S. manufacturers announced a wide range of new developments this month. Spanning fourteen states and representing billions in investment, here’s a look at some of the most significant new operations and expansions announced in October.

Hovione Doubles Spray Drying Capacity in New Jersey

Hovione has completed a $100 million expansion at its East Windsor, NJ, campus, more than doubling its spray drying capacity with 31,000 square feet of new space. CEO Jean Luc Herbeaux said the investment “reinforces Hovione’s leadership in spray drying – a core technology platform where we have built extensive know how and capabilities. By advancing our unique technology platforms and expanding our U.S. capacity we are strengthening the foundation that enables our partners to bring complex medicines to patients more efficiently.”

Merck to Build $3 Billion Center of Excellence in Virginia

Merck will invest $3 billion in a new 400,000 sq ft Center of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing at its Elkton, VA site. The project will add more than 500 jobs and include manufacturing and lab space. “Today is an important milestone for Merck, for Virginia, for manufacturing in the United States and, most importantly, for the patients we serve,” said CEO Robert M. Davis.

Lupin to Build $250 Million Respiratory Drug Plant in Florida

Lupin is investing $250 million in Coral Springs, FL, to build a state-of-the-art facility producing 25 respiratory medications. Chief Technical Operations Officer Christoph Funke called it “a core component of our growth strategy,” and emphasized Lupin’s commitment to “strengthen America’s medicine security.”

Eos Energy Relocates HQ and Expands in Pennsylvania

Eos Energy will move its headquarters to Pittsburgh and invest $352.9 million to expand zinc battery production, creating 735 jobs. “Pennsylvania is positioning itself at the forefront of America’s energy transition — enabling us to bring America’s battery to scale,” said CEO Joe Mastrangelo.

Amkor Breaks Ground on $7 Billion Semiconductor Campus in Arizona

Amkor Technology broke ground on its expanded Peoria, AZ, packaging and test campus, increasing its investment to $7 billion. CEO Giel Rutten said the project is “a bold step in our long-term strategy” to build facilities “to meet customers’ most advanced needs and to shape the future of semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S.”

XNRGY Opens ‘Mesa 1’ Data Center Cooling Facility

XNRGY celebrated the opening of its Mesa 1 plant near Phoenix to manufacture advanced data center cooling systems. CEO Wais Jalali called it “a major milestone” that reinforces the firm’s commitment to “bringing the highest quality manufacturing and technology to meet market needs.”

WCR Launches Plate Heat Exchanger Plant in Ohio

WCR opened a 212,000 sq ft plant in Fairborn, OH, to produce plate heat exchangers. CEO Kim Andreasen said the facility allows WCR to “create plates four times faster, increasing our response time to customer demand exponentially.”

MAHLE Expands Lockport Operations

MAHLE is investing $6.8 million to expand its Lockport, NY, site with new test equipment and warehousing. Vice President Stefan Land said, “We sincerely appreciate the strong support from state and local officials. Their partnership plays a vital role in enabling our growth and strengthening our long-term commitment to the region.”

BorgWarner Selects North Carolina for EV Components Plant

BorgWarner plans to invest $74.9 million in a 220,000 sq ft facility in Henderson County, NC, to manufacture electric vehicle components, creating 193 jobs. President and CEO Joseph F. Fadool said the company is “proud to continue to invest in the state of North Carolina.”

Glaukos Breaks Ground on $80 Million Facility in Alabama

Glaukos began construction on a $80 million, 200,000 sq ft R&D and manufacturing site in Huntsville, AL. “We are proud to expand our U.S. footprint… underscoring our commitment to American manufacturing,” said CEO Thomas Burns.

Stellantis Unveils $13 Billion U.S. Expansion Plan

Stellantis is investing $13 billion across facilities in IL, OH, MI, and IN to support EVs, engines, and transmissions—adding more than 5,000 jobs. CEO Antonio Filosa said, “We are putting the customer at the center of our strategy, expanding our vehicle offerings and giving them the freedom to choose.”

Westrafo Chooses Ohio for Transformer Plant

Westrafo will invest $15 million in a 233,000 sq ft transformer plant in Trotwood, OH. CEO Alberto Cracco said the project will “strengthen our leadership position, enhance our know-how, and offer U.S. customers the quality and reliability that define us.”

Pegatron Opens Electronics Plant in Texas

Pegatron officially opened its 168,784 sq ft Georgetown, TX, facility to produce advanced electronics. “This significant step allows Pegatron to move forward with providing our customers better solutions and services in [the] U.S.,” said Vice President Charles Lin.

Proven Industries Builds 80,000 sq ft Headquarters in Florida

Proven Industries will consolidate operations into a new 80,000 sq ft HQ in Palmetto, FL. Founder Ron Lee said the facility “allows us to meet customer demand while maintaining the hands on, quality control that defines our brand.”

Consumer Goods & Materials

LEGO Factory Tops Out in Virginia

The LEGO Group placed the final steel beam on its $1.5 billion, 1.7 million sq ft factory in Chesterfield County, VA. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, partners, and local community,” said general manager Jesús Ibáñez.

Las Vegas Container Expands Corrugated Plant

Las Vegas Container expanded its plant to better serve 3PL and e-commerce clients, adding high-speed automation and custom printing tech. “Our Las Vegas manufacturing plant is built to deliver flexibility, scalability, and efficiency,” said President Russ Freebury.

Sofidel Enhances Tissue Paper Capacity in Ohio

Sofidel will add a Valmet TAD paper machine and new converting lines to its Circleville, OH plant. “We are putting down even stronger roots in the United States,” said CEO Luigi Lazzareschi, citing improved ability to supply premium tissue products.
